Having reached the near-end of a successful East and West Coast tour run, which began at SXSW 2010 and saw Liars perform two sold-out shows in NYC as well as a sold-out show in their current home Los Angeles, Liars announce a 2nd string of tour dates to commence July 2010. This tour sees Liars hitting the middle states and is marked by their special appearance at the Pitchfork Festival July 16th, 2010.

Of their recent SXSW performance Pitchfork said “It’s tough to overstate Andrew’ abilities as a frontman…Andrew uses every bit of his big frame to convey a constant evil insanity. But there’s still a strong sense of control to what he and his band do onstage. If I ever manage to lose my mind entirely, I hope the voices in my head sound something like this band.” August Brown of the Los Angeles Times writes “Angus Andrew is a stringy-haired, gravel-voiced prophet of doom…He trawls the stage… it’s clear he’s having the time of his life up there.” of Liars Live while Rolling Stone proclaims they are “Working their way up to art rock legacy.”

Liars recently joined Beck, Annie Clark and Daniel Hart from St Vincent, Sergio Dias from legendary Brazilian band Os Mutantes and Brian Lebarton for Beck’s Record Club 4, covering the 1987 album, Kick by INXS. Beck’s Record Club is an “informal meeting of various musicians to record an album in a day”. The results are posted, track by track at http://www.beck.com/recordclub/, the first track Guns In The Sky is online now. Angus, talking about Beck’s Record Club said, “it is a rare opportunity for completely selfless collaboration and an extremely interesting and unique project that was an absolute pleasure to participate in.”

Liars release a brand new single, The Overachievers, on May 25th. Backed with two brand new tracks, Pleasure Is Boss and Only Sometimes plus Devendra Banhart & The Grogs’s reinterpretation of the single. Liars’ own Aaron Hemphill directs the forthcoming video for The Overachievers. The Overachievers is taken from Sisterworld, the band’s critically acclaimed fifth album, NME said “…this incredible album is your passport to a better place.” and Uncut said “impressive… focused and relevant”. Sisterworld is out now on CD, 2CD version with very special packaging and on a deluxe vinyl edition double 180gram heavy vinyl and CD with two booklets.

The second disc of the 2CD release sees each track on Sisterworld remixed and reinterpreted by a host of artists including Thom Yorke, Atlas Sound, Blonde Redhead, Fol Chen and Alan Vega while the unique packaging, designed by Brian Roettinger / Hand Held Heart (Grammy nominated and Rolling Stone award winning for his work with No Age) allows a surreal glimpse into the Sisterworld concertina.

Sisterworld has already met with extensive critical praise including an 8.1/Best New Music distinction from Pitchfork and IS CURRENTLY a *5 on the CMJ Top 200 Chart. New York Magazine says “With ‘Sisterworld,’ the band have found a balance, providing both exceptional standalone moments and a unifying theme,” and The Los Angeles Times says “Bands that do what they want to do because they believe in it – and trust the intelligence of their listeners – are the future. That is the brave new world of Liars”

Sisterworld, Liars’ boldest and most exhilarating record to date, is a dense art-pop thrill from start to finish. Sisterworld is Liars’ own space, completely devoid of influence, somewhere remote from the false promises and discarded dreams amassed in LA. In it Liars explore the underground support systems created to deal with loss of self to society. Liars are Angus Andrew, Aaron Hemphill and Julian Gross.
