Allison Moorer to release “Crows Acoustic EP”

Allison Moorer "Crows"Allison Moorer will release the Crows Acoustic EP digitally on May 25th. The new release features six solo and acoustic versions from her critically acclaimed Ryko debut, Crows. The 13-track Crows, is a refined and lyrically honest collection of songs that is a marked stylistic departure from her previous work. The New York Post stated that “Allison Moorer is chillingly brilliant” while the Boston Globe called Crows “a striking album.” Billboard said that the album featured “…some of the best singing of her career” and the record received 3 ½ stars out of 4 from the Los Angeles Times, 3 ½ stars out of 4 from People magazine and further acclaim from Rolling Stone, Spin, Oprah Magazine, The New Yorker, Mojo and many more. The Crows Acoustic EP was produced by Jason Finkel at Pyramid Recording in New York City and will be released in the weeks leading up to her first tour dates in support of the Crows album.

When speaking about the Crows Acoustic EP, Allison Moorer stated, “I always like to give people an opportunity to hear a song in the form it was born in. And sometimes with a twist. That’s what this recording is about.”

Moorer’s 1998 song, “A Soft Place To Fall,” was included on the soundtrack to the feature film The Horse Whisperer, which led to an appearance in the film itself, as well as an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song. The opportunity gained her worldwide attention and set the stage for her career. Since, Moorer has been featured on releases by Joan Baez, Kid Rock, The Chieftains, Los Straightjackets and most recently the David Byrne & Fatboy Slim collaboration album, Here Lies Love. She was recently seen in The People Speak, a beautiful and moving film inspired by the late Howard Zinn’s A People’s History of the United States. The film, presented by the History Channel, also featured Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Eddie Vedder, Morgan Freeman, Matt Damon, Josh Brolin, Danny Glover and more. Moorer was also nominated for her first Grammy Award in 2007 for the song “Days Aren’t Long Enough,” a composition she co-wrote with her husband, Steve Earle. The couple welcomed their first child, John Henry Earle, into the world on April 5th. Crows is Allison Moorer’s 7th studio recording.
