The two men at the heart of legendary band Bachman-Turner Overdrive, rock n’ roll legends Randy Bachman and Fred Turner, are finally giving in to overwhelming fan demand and reuniting for the first time in nearly 20 years. The pair’s first gig will be an intimate club show on their hometown stage at Winnipeg’s renowned Pyramid Cabaret, before heading out for shows worldwide. The band’s official global return will be in front of tens of thousands of attendees of the Sweden Rock Festival, which also features Aerosmith, Guns N’ Roses and Billy Idol.
“It’s appropriate that Fred Turner and I are stepping back on stage together where it all started for us as teenagers,” explains Randy Bachman. “After we limber up in Winnipeg, we’ll be taking the show to Sweden, London, the USA and beyond.”
Meanwhile, the duo and their top-notch band have released their first new single in two decades, “Rollin’ Along,” which is currently available for streaming at their website www.bachmanandturner.com. The digital single will be for sale on June 1st, and offers fans a long-awaited glimpse into Bachman & Turner’s as-yet-untitled, brand new album currently set for a September 7th release on E1 Music (Canada), and on RBE Music/Fontana (U.S.). Bachman & Turner’s upcoming studio album will be stocked with all original new tracks penned by the pair, including “Rollin’ Along,” which has a sound that seamlessly fits alongside their classic rock anthems such as “Takin’ Care of Business” and “You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet.” Bachman & Turner are currently backed by journeymen musicians Brent Howard, Marc LaFrance and Mick Dalla-Vee, who themselves have been performing together for more than 20 years.
Over the course of their initial four-year run in the 1970s, Bachman-Turner Overdrive sold in excess of 30 million records, earning a staggering 120 platinum, gold and silver discs, and notching up hits in more than 20 countries. The band reached #1 on Billboard’s singles chart (“You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet”) and album chart (Not Fragile), as well as scoring another handful of hits including “Taking Care of Business,” “Hey You,” “My Wheels Won’t Turn” and “Looking Out for #1.”
