Long known for this sort of doom metal that churned up the UK, Anathema are back with something closer to antipathy.
Anathema still sound gloomy yet full of spit and polish on “Pressure”. It takes up until the middle of “Looking Outside Inside” for Anathema to really push the envelope. “Underworld” piques interest as each song seems to take its own path up and down the roller coaster ride. It seems that just as you get comfortable with the tempo, they bring it down a notch again with “Barriers”.
With only nine tracks, A Fine Day To Exit doesn’t seem like a full album in some respects, but the quality of the songs makes up for the lack of songs. With pieces like “A Find Day To Exit” to accompany your pained soul, these songs will go a long, long way.
