Company Line: When longtime friends–Max, Jon and drummer/vocalist Tony Fagenson–started the process of making It’s All In Your Head in late 2002, only one thought was in the band’s collective brain: staying true to themselves and their music, yet growing into themselves as artists.
The Good:
“At Least We’re Dreaming” – “Everything is going to be alright”. We’ve heard it before yet Eve 6 has found a way to make it sound fresh again.
“Hey Montana” – Folk? Yes it has a genuine folksy quality and it’s darn good too.
“Good Lives” – Lying isn’t good and we don’t get better at it, or do we?
“Friend Of Mine” – As close as Eve 6 has come to writing their epic tracking, even if it does have a distinct Who feel to it.
The Marginal:
“Hokis” – Not to shabby. These guys are really growing up.
“Without You Here” – Twisting and turning while caught between the past of this band and the future.
“Girlfriend” – Ode to the gal pal.
“Think Twice” – An odd track that evokes the odd ball rock pop hits from the 80’s.
The Ugly:
“Still Here Waiting” – Sounds like a punk rock bands demo song.
Frankly: Eve 6’s best quality is their evolution. What you’ve heard in the past isn’t what you hear in the present and that makes It’s All In Your Head a worthy purchase.
