The lead rapper for Brand Nubian came out roaring on his own with Reel to Reel in 1992. It contained everything from unrelenting Nation of Islam propaganda to one number that seemed like an updated “My Ding-a-Ling” with its shameless touting of Puba’s sexual prowess. But overall, it showed he had the skills to flourish on his own.
