The Bosstones mixed ska and reggae before it was the cool thing to do. They’ve given us years of music, all under a large corporate moniker; now they’ve gone back to their independent roots.
Bling:
“A Jackknife To A Swan” – They’ve still got it, big record label or not.
Sing:
“Mr. Moran” – You talking to me? Get the Sammy “the Bull” story.
“You Gotta Go” – Good hook, but not as big as past hits.
“Sugar Free” – Dicky gives us his best razor blade vocals but what comes out doesn’t seem all that interesting.
“Punchline”
“Seven Ways” – Toned down and tuned up.
Sting:
“Old School” – Sure is old school, but the Bosstones aren’t the Ramones.
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones seem to have gotten stuck in a time warp. They are rehashing everything that did and didn’t work in the past on A Jackknife To A Swan. It’s not that impressive.
