N.E.R.D. – In Search Of

N.E.R.D.
Artist: N.E.R.D.
Title: In Search Of
Label: Virgin
Rating: 7.5/10

Artist: N.E.R.D. aka The Neptunes aka Pharrell Williams & Chad Hugo.
Sounds like: rock ‘n’ roll meets some twisted form of hip-hop.

Search no more:
“Provider” – Selling drugs is a crusty topic, but the ballad is just undeniable.
“Truth Or Dare” – Kelis pushes this song to edible proportions.
“Tape You” and “Run To The Sun” – Sly.
“Baby Doll” – Slick r&b flavor touches on the basis of the style from thirty years back.
“Am I High” – Sweet flavor, from the beat to the melody, too bad the song doesn’t go anywhere.
“Rockstar” – Is faster than a speeding nerd.
“Bobby James” – More of the same N.E.R.D. formula. It’s so sly, silky smooth.

Keep on searching:
“Lapdance” – With its high-pitched chorus and lack of interesting matter makes for a poor date.
“Things Are Getting Better” – This song could get better.
“Brain” – Interesting, but the song is plain annoying.

N.E.R.D. with all the hype you’d think this was the greatest release since Nevermind. In Search Of has its moments but there isn’t anything completely worth latching on to. There are some curiosities, good melodies, good beats, but its not going to dip into your soul. Listen for the entertainment. Come back for the same.
