The Police are one of the great rock bands of all time. In 1997 a greatest hits package was put together for the holiday season – the 2002 version is similar but with a few additions like “Seven Days”, “De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da”, “Brand New Day”, “Desert Rose” & “So Lonely”.
There are 18 tracks overall and its hard to say this isn’t worth the money. Although the record is titled The Very Best of Sting & The Police the record gives you a better overview of the Police.
There are some wonderful and notable tracks. “Seven Days” is magnificent. “Fragile”, well what can you say? I really enjoy “Fields Of Gold”. There are the hits you’d expect such as “Every Breath You Take”, “If I Ever Lose My Faith In You”, “Roxanne”, “Don’t Stand So Close To Me”, etc.
What happened to “King of Pain” or “We’ll Be Together”? Aside from these missing tracks this is a must have for the Police fan who doesn’t have all their records already or doesn’t want to have to switch cds as they drive to work or for a road trip sing-along. If you want to dip into the Police and don’t think you are ready to buy each record this will help get you started.
