CORPORATE LINE: The new CD –– Rock’s first since his Grammy-winning “Bigger & Blacker from 2000 –– not only boasts an hour of flawless stand-up material, but also a string of comic audio sketches and music parodies. Even better for Rock fans, a bonus DVD featuring all kinds of behind-the-scenes footage is also included in the package.
On “Never Scared,” the multi-Grammy and Emmy-award winning comedian lives up to the CD title, taking on sacrosanct icons from Michael Jackson to George Bush. He also continues his on-going discourse on men, women, sex and marriage in a hilarious monologue too racy for print.
THE HITS:
Chris Rock starts off by talking about the real goal of being a father to a daughter—to keep her from being stripper. And seriously, what guy goes to a strip joint for the steak dinner?
Michael Jackson makes it to easy and Chris Rock takes him to task. Not only does Rock wipe the floor with Michael, but the rest of the Jackson clan. Rock takes a whole new perspective on Janet Jackson. Who knew that Latoya would end up being the normal Jackson?
Chris Rock’s take on the War and what Bush has done to take our focus off of it is hilarious. If Iraq is so dangerous then why did it take only two weeks to take it over? “You couldn’t take over Baltimore in two weeks!” Even funnier is Rock’s discussion of dead rappers and comparing trying to find the killer of Tupac and finding Saddam Hussein.
Anyone hear those Bud commercials “Real Men of Genius”? Rock reinvents it with his “Real People of Ignorance” and its gold! The “Tip Your Hat To Whitey” skits are hilarious as well.
FRANKLY: This is the best Chris Rock record to date. If you’ve got an hour to burn and want to make that drive go quicker Never Scared will get you there laughing you’re a** off time and again.
