GAME DESCRIPTION: In The Ant Bully, you’ll control a young boy as he faces poetic justice. A boy named Lucas has been magically turned into an ant after destroying an innocent ant colony. You’ll control Lucas as he experiences the dangerous and thrilling life of an ant. Battle, explore and forge new friendships with natives and other species, in this new ant world. Multiple weapons help Lucas survive his environment – The staff, dart bow, lava silk squirter and seed bombs Seek out & collect goods that help you on your adventure – Sweet rocks, honeydew, fire crystals, darts, lava silk & more.
PLAY: The game tries to stick faithfully to the movie. Being that The Ant Bully is a game for kids the controls are simplified. The basic functions of the game are to find items and fight off enemies as you make your way through the missions. The weapons are items such as a stick, silk shooter, darts, and bombs.
The controls are far from perfect. There seems to be a delay when a button is pressed and the animation of the move. The entire game seems slow to respond to the controls. This makes The Ant Bully tough to play when you have more than one enemy to battle.
GRAPHICS: Graphically, The Ant Bully isn’t impressive. It’s cartoonish—but not extraordinary. Many games have been released about animated movies and they all looked better than this on the PS2. This looks like a game that could have come out when the PS2 made its debut.
SOUND: With a movie out, The Ant Bully should have great voice over and music.
FRANKLY: The Ant Bully might be fun for kids—but not adults. Then again—this is made for kids and the simplified game play is exactly what kids are looking for.
