GAME DESCRIPTION: The Dead or Alive series is back for another installment to surpass all other fighting games! With unsurpassed online play via Xbox Live, more players can simultaneously compete, much larger tournament groups are available, detailed scoreboard featured, players can form clans, new and interactive DOA4 lobby area featuring voice and text chat available. The fighting system has been overhauled to allow for even more mastery and strategy of your favorite character, including the most complex DOA countering system yet! New characters have been added to the DOA all-star line-up with new interactive stages, and new and in-depth story line and cut scenes.
PLAY: DOA 4 is far beyond the usual fighting game on any other platform. The moves are lightening quick and the animations are phenomenal from one move to the next nothing feels like it is clipped together.
The fighting system is well done and not merely a button masher. The countering is better in this release. Even with all the speed there is the ability to more accurately counter moves. Each character has different abilities. As powerful as some characters seem none are better than the other because the counter moves bring every other character down to a neutral level.
There are also different modes from sparring to story mode to online. You can also watch characters battle go for time attacks and more. As you go through the modes you can unlock new characters and more. Most fans however will love the online mode that has many different modes within it.
GRAPHICS: DOA 4 is one of the best looking game so far on the Xbox 360. The characters are decent and nicely detailed—although you would expect stronger detail on the next gen. It’s the animations that truly steal the show. The faces are incredible and one of the biggest step-up on the new platform.
The environments are spectacular. Not only are they fantastically designed but the lighting is gorgeous. And the there are the leaves falling and other items animated in the background. One level has a Cheetah that paces back and forth as you fight.
SOUND: The sound is rock and intense music that functions well with this fighting style.
FRANKLY: With a huge amount of unlockable characters and different modes and online play DOA 4 is a must own for the Xbox 360!
