CORPORATE LINE: The first film from the Broken Lizard Comedy Troupe (SUPER TROOPERS), this campus comedy was a hilarious debut. College kid Felix (Steve Lemme) escapes out the window when his buddies Grogan (Kevin Heffernan) and Matt (Paul Soter) get caught stealing from the cafeteria. He’s mortified to find that the girl of his dreams is defending his doofus friends in university court, and moreover, she’s trying to convince the defendants to rat on their accomplice.
THE SHOW: This is as B as a bad movie gets. The Broken Lizard group recorded some of the movie at their fraternity at Colgate. There are not nearly enough funny moments. Most of the film is so grating that it’s impossible to laugh even when something might be narrowly funny. These were shot a long time ago and there are moments that are funny such as Kevin Heffernan trying to pick up a woman at a bar.
THE EXTRAS: The audio commentaries are funny mostly because they can laugh at how bad the movie is they made. There is some background on Broken Lizard—and if you don’t like the movie you won’t care at all.
There is a featurette called Rodeo Clowns which is little more than the tour of trying to go out and promote Super Troopers. The sad thing is it’s funnier than the movie.
FRANKLY: Puddle Cruiser is bad. Don’t even rent it.
