The review:
Dark Sector looks like a lot of fun and really tries hard to come close to being Gears of War. All the elements are here but why does Dark Sector suck so bad?
Just becuase you strive to be like the best doesn’t mean you can always pull it off. A lot of the game seems like it doesn’t work the way it should. Really obvious stuff, too. Combat is a mess. Everything seems unintelligent and riddled with holes. The A.I. is terrible. Even while Dark Sector feels scary it never is, mostly because you have no reason to fear the moronic enemies that are supposed to be trying to kill you.
Gears of War was a masterpiece and this is nothing but a shell. The graphics don’t help to make the game better–in fact the ambition seems to have hurt the game because its so sluggish.
Finally:
Dark Sector might be good as a rental, but don’t blow your wad buying this thing.
