Track by track:

Don’t Panic – ‘bones sinking like stones’ sounds like a deceptive device but when Chris Martin reminds us that ‘we live in a beautiful world’ all that misunderstanding comes full circle.

Shiver – starts out slow but it really takes off. It will only take a few listens before you are singing alone to your newfound friend. ‘I’ll always be waiting for you’

Spies – Perhaps my favorite track for no reason other than the emotion emulating hits hard.

Sparks – very mellow, hard to hold onto as you have ‘Spies’ on one end and ‘Yellow’ on the other.

Yellow – A hit. Strong, powerful, passionate, everything you hear is what you hear. It’s a passion and melody that strikes every chord. ‘Look at the stars/ look how they shine for you’.

Trouble – Almost depressingly beautiful. ‘oh no I see/ the spider web and its me in the middle/ so I twist and turn/ but here I am in love in a bubble’.

Parachutes – A short, but sweet track.

High Speed – Out of the slower inner workings comes this simple yet grand track.

We Never Change – Slow, but as poignant as this album gets.

Everything’s Not Lost – If you ever feel neglected/ if you think that all is lost/ I’ll be counting out my demons/ hoping everything’s not lost’. You get the picture.

Life Is Worth Living (hidden track) – Don’t leave this track hidden. It is worth listening to just as much as those that have a track number.

There is no filler, nothing to skip over or to complain about. Nothing comes for free and this album is worth every single penny spent. This is the album of the year, perhaps the best album since Radiohead The Bends. Parachutes is a masterpiece.
