Snoop Dogg is set to release his tenth solo LP, “Malice N Wonderland,” on December 8th through Priority/EMI Music. The official first single, “Gangsta Luv” featuring The Dream, is not only the premiere offering from the much anticipated forthcoming album but also the very first cut released by EMI Music’s newly re-launched Priority Records, where Snoop serves as Creative Chairman of the historic West Coast hip hop label. Previously signed to Priority nearly a decade ago, the release symbolizes a homecoming for the iconic hip hop star.
The entire 12 song opus encompasses its title, with half being the “Malice” through gritty, dark, gangsta lyrics and content while the other half is the “Wonderland,” showing Snoop’s fun-loving and lighthearted flows. Producers who collaborated on “Malice N Wonderland” include hitmakers Teddy Riley, Pharrell, Lil Jon, among others along with guest appearances by artists such as The Dream, R Kelly, Brandy, Jazmine Sullivan and Soulja Boy.
The premiere single, produced by Tricky and The Dream, titled Gangsta Luv is a melodic catchy and feel-good record. The video, directed by Paul Hunter, is vibrant hued and entertaining with Snoop in the backseat of a Dream-chauffeured Cadillac driving through many different unexpected and hilarious scenarios.
“I had to introduce the album with part of the ‘Wonderland’ side – I wanted to have fun with this one – both in the studio and in the video,” says Snoop. “This is the first release for Priority Records and as the new Creative Chairman, as well as an artist on the label, it was only right to celebrate the re-launch with a feel-good anthem.”
Gangsta Luv will be available for purchase on iTunes on October 20th, the same day that the comedic and much anticipated video makes its exclusive premiere across all MTV platforms including MTV, MTV2, MTV Hits, mtvU, MTV Jams, MTV Tres and MTV.com. Snoop will also be guest hosting WWE Monday Night Raw on October 19th where fans can get a sneak peek of the video.
