Rock darlings Sick Puppies have released their “Live and Unplugged” EP, available now on iTunes as well as at their shows. The four-song EP features tracks from their Top 200 mainstay and current release, Tri-Polar (RMR/Virgin/EMI), including acoustic versions of #1 Rock track “You’re Going Down,” current single “Odd One” which is climbing the rock charts at #9 this week, and crowd favorites “So What I Lied,” and bonus track “Pretender.” Sick Puppies are currently on the road with Nickelback for the summer in support of the band’s second album. The tour launched on April 3 at the Atlantic City Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City (full schedule below).
Their most recent disc, Tri-Polar, released in July 2009 on RMR/Virgin/EMI remaining in the Billboard Top 200 since its release and in the Top 20 on the Billboard Hard Album chart. Their second single “Odd One” continues to be a hit at rock radio gaining spins to #9 this week on the Active Rock chart and moving up steadily as the #15 track at Modern Rock. The video for “Odd One” was directed by Frank Borin (Eminem, Red Hot Chili Peppers) and is a concept video along the lines of an X-Men character featuring a girl with the power to take life, and surprisingly to her – give, with her hands. The video has been in the top 5 on Fuse #1 Countdown for more than 2 months currently holding firm at #3, as well as in the Top 20 on MTV2 and airing on MTVU.
Sick Puppies are Shimon Moore (guitar, vocals), Emma Anzai (bass) and Mark Goodwin (drums). Co-founded almost a decade ago by Shim and Emma while in high school, Sick Puppies introduced themselves to the world with their “Free Hugs” video for the song “All the Same” from their debut, Dressed Up As Life. Boasting more than 55 million views on YouTube, the video was shot in a Sydney shopping mall featuring their friend Juan Mann, who held up a hand-written placard offering “Free Hugs.” In the past four years Sick Puppies have toured the globe in support of Evanescence, Deftones, Velvet Revolver, Chris Cornell, Flyleaf, Chevelle, Breaking Benjamin, 3 Doors Down and more. Currently on the road in support of their sophomore release, Tri-Polar, Sick Puppies will spend the summer opening for Nickelback. For more information please visit www.sickpuppies.com.
