Corporate Line: I like the idea of ‘Get Born’ having two meanings adds Chris finally. Like ‘Rubber Soul.’ It’s basically a reminder to forget your problems and celebrate the moment instead. It’s a rejection of all those feelings of negativity or depression you might get. It’s a heartfelt thing, and that’s where that primal energy comes through the music.
The Good:
“Look What You’ve Done” – Absolutely wonderful ballad. This is where Jet should go in the future. Their sound comes out and it’s marvelous.
“Rollover D.J.” – Their sound destroys as the first two tracks seemed to be an illusion.
“Get Me Outta Here” and “Cold Hard B****” – Has Jet found their direction with this straight up whiskey on the rocks.
The Average:
“Lazy Gun” – Jet rocks.
“Last Chance” – High octane.
“Are You Gonna Be My Girl” – The verse tears it up. The chorus lets it down.
The Ugly:
Wow.
Frankly: Jet starts out with the two first tracks sounding like a Strokes cover band, but they throw that out the window. Jet is a rare gem in the many boring rock records that we get everyday.
