Hip Online goes one at a time with B2K!
First we question Lil Fizz:
What is a day like in your life?
We got up around six this morning and did some school work, then went and did a radio station spot, and now we’re doing interviews, and the day isn’t done yet.
It’s a good thing being busy.
It’s a lot of good exposure.
How has life changed?
I remember when we were on a promo tour and went to radio stations and promoted shows we were doing and there’d be about a hundred girls at the show and then we just did a promo show in Dallas and there were thousands of girls at that show. That’s a pretty big change. Our personal lives haven’t changed and our friends are still the same.
Is it tough being away from home?
We don’t really ever get to go home, but it’s not that hard because B2K are friends and its like home when we’re on the road.
What did you do when you found out the album debut at number 2?
We were jumping, bouncing off walls, man, we were so excited. That was amazing.
Do you remember the first time you heard the song on the radio?
Actually we were at the station when they played it and we were so excited. We didn’t get to see when the video came on live because we were at a radio station so we recorded it off BET and when we came home we watched it and it was incredible.
What do you think of comparisons to New Editon and Jackson 5?
To be compared to them is really a complement.
Is there anyone out today that you really want or wanted to meet?
Raz-B and Omarion are really lucky because they got to meet Michael Jackson during his video shoot. Michael is the biggest influence on us. But me and J-Boog got to meet Puff Daddy before.
What’s it like to meet fans now?
We love our fans, we have the best fans. We were in New York and did a show and we were leaving in our bus and all the fans ran down the street and they made a human barricade. They all connected arms and stopped the bus because they didn’t want us to leave?
When did you start singing?
I always wanted to make a career out of it but never thought it would happen. I used to make these little Kris Kross and Immature videos when I was like six. Since we were little have loved music and wanted to be in it.
When you go to MTV what goes through your head?
I can’t even explain, we still can’t believe its happening.
Questioning Raz-B:
Life must be changing every day.
You can say that. Its great, but the only thing that is different is that we are really, really busy and we don’t get to see our friends and family as much as we used to.
What’s your family and friends think?
They are in shock, but they are really behind us like a hundred and twenty five percent. They are like ‘I saw your video’ and whatever it feels good. We never thought it was ever going to go this far. We really have to thank our fans for that. They always show love.
Could you believe when you debut at number two?
Number two? Man we couldn’t believe it, we were just freaking out. I never thought about it or that it’d ever do that.
Now that you are doing more shows, is there anyone that you met that blew you away?
Michael Jackson, Now Lil Fizz and J Boog are made at me and Omarion because we got to meet him. That is who they wanted to meet.
I want to meet Michael.
He is the nicest and humblest guy. I enjoyed meeting him.
What do you think about people comparing you to the Jackson 5?
That is the biggest compliment. I could have the worst day, but when someone tells me something like that it just brightens up my day.
How long did it take for you guys to gel as a group?
We clicked the first day. J-Boog and Omarion were cousins, but we all came together and started doing dance rehearsals and vocal training. So we were able to get really polished. We were in artist development for three years. It happened pretty fast, well it seems like it did, but it was a long process.
The rise from being no one to a group everyone knows happened fast for everyone else.
I know, for everyone else it seems like it happened overnight, but it didn’t. We were on promo tours too for a while and now it’s paying off.
Questioning Omarion:
Life is good?
It’s beautiful. At the end of the day when I perform I just feel great.
You must have felt good when the album came out and charted well.
I was doing back flips. I mean we’ve been through so much as a group and for us to get to the point that we are at we are so thankful. We love our fans and owe them for this. When we were on TRL and before we went on we had to wait in the green room and after went on and came back there I just cried because I couldn’t believe it and I’m so thankful. It’s a dream. I’m waiting for someone to pinch me.
Were you excited to meet Michael Jackson?
Meeting Michael Jackson was a dream, he was the nicest guy. We got invited to his video shoot and it was the nicest thing.
Meeting him told me that your attitude can take you a long way and that everyone should be humble.
Is it weird that fans get nervous like that to meet you?
It is, but its fun and funny at the same time. Like I laugh because it is the cutest thing. I can’t believe someone really cares about meeting us that much. I love hyper fans.
What was it like to see your video played?
It was shocking. We don’t really get to see TV much cause all we do is work and sleep. People just tell us about it and we can’t believe it. It is just overwhelming.
Questioning J-boog:
Heard you’ve been busy?
Every single day.
What do you do to relax?
I like to Playstation 2 and sleep. I like to eat some seafood and sleep. (Laughs)
When you recorded this album was it the first time you were in the studio?
Yeah, it was so much fun because we were in the studio with our brothers and managers. It was fun, nothing bad.
When you were recording could you imagine this was all going to happen?
No. We would have never thought that would happen. You always want it to, but for it to actually happen it was overwhelming.
What is it like to have fans going crazy over you?
It’s almost like ‘why?’ But it’s so great. It’s amazing, and for us to have that effect is amazing.
How do you keep yourselves grounded?
When we first came together Chris, our manager, and IMX taught us the ups and downs. They taught us who to trust, who not to trust, what it takes to reach a certain level, and that we have to stay humble and unified.
Is it nice because you have three other guys who understand what you are going through?
Yes, that is the best thing about it. Everyone is going through the same thing at the same time. I’m so thankful for that.
