Ike Reilly’s story isn’t all that exciting. It’s about a guy who grew up in Libertyville, Illinois. He lets his music do the talking rather than his life history.
Reilly produces hook-ass punk rock that can pull you in with one arm or two. “Last Time” does just that, however it doesn’t boast any memorable qualities. Then “Angels & Whores” kicks in some silly pop-punk logic. Even sillier is “Commie Drives A Nova”. “Duty Free” had promise, but just the mention of duty free drives me batty.
It’s the mix of asinine jolts alongside the serious that confuses the issue. When you get a track like “Hip Hop Thighs #17” ripping off “American Pie”, and not in a good way either, you wonder where Reilly’s head is at. Salesmen And Racists is about as far off as its title.
