GAME DESCRIPTION: It’s Christmas time in New York City. A strange virus has appeared in the city, turning seemingly normal people into insane, violent Infected. Rookie Officer Stevens is one of the first victims of the Infected. But unlike others, Stevens is strangely immune and doesn’t lose control. The mysterious Dr. Schaeffer discovers that Stevens’ immune blood can be used to destroy the otherwise unkillable Infected. Schaeffer creates a special “viral gun” that fills shells with blood from Stevens’ arm and blasts them straight into the Infected, causing them to splat spectacularly.
PLAY: As Officer Stevens you have only one objective and that is to kill zombies. It’s interesting that Infected’s zombies are all over the place as some seem to be quick while others are very slow. Then they carry weapons. What’s next? They stop looking like zombies?
The weapons are nothing exciting—on top of your usual guns you have a viral gun. The shooting is good and the lock-on ability works great so that you don’t have to focus half your time aiming while you are also avoiding zombies. Also, you can kill many zombies with one shot. You have mostly unlimited ammo so no need to worry about letting the bullets fly. There are other aspects of Infected such as helping innocent people get away from the undead. You have to get some in helicopters. But mostly it’s about splattering zombies.
GRAPHICS: A very good looking PSP game. New York City looks great and the blood, guts, and zombies are all gross and creepy. Perfect for a zombie shooter. The animations flow well and never get hung up.
SOUND: If you love metal than Infected has a soundtrack for you. Even if you don’t care for the bloodcurdling yowl of metal you have to agree that it fits the game well. The voice acting is decent while the sound effects are perfectly terrifying.
FRANKLY: There is nothing more exciting than blowing away zombies. And the endless amount of carnage never gets old.
