Game Company’s Description: In 1968, the mutant known simply as Logan was surgically implanted with the virtually unbreakable adamantium skeleton that made him into Wolverine, one of the world’s most famous X-Men. Now, more than 30 years later, Wolverine has discovered that he was also implanted with something else: a viral time-bomb that will render him lifeless in 48 hours. The clock is ticking. The antidote needs to be found quickly. And only you can find it.
Look: It’s hard to go either way. Wolverine looks quite good and moves well. The environments are where the game is lacking. There is only so much you can hack your way through and that doesn’t hold up to the lore of Wolverine’s claws which can slice through anything. A few of the other characters are poorly designed.
Feel: There is the usual slashing but you also have control of Wolverine’s mutant powers. You can pull out the claws or retract them with a tap of the button. There are a few moves at your disposal, but the claws do it all.
There are camera problems that can impede gameplay. There are cool options like collecting Cerebro Chips that contain biographies of characters and then there are comic book covers and dog tags. At least Activision tried to add some replay value.
Hear: When your claws fly out you can’t help but smile. The voice acting for Wolverine is okay, but would have been better had Hugh Jackman been behind it.
Frankly: Good replay value. I’m not sure how many times you’ll play it after you’ve made your way to the end, but does it really matter? There doesn’t seem to be anything cooler than being Wolverine.
