PLAY: The PSP version of The Sims 2 is a more like Sims 2 Lite. There is a good deal of nuances missing that are actually integral to the overall Sims experience. There are some aspects that have returned, such as create-a-sim.

One major issue is that your sims don’t age nor do they have memories. Also there is a lose AI—absent is fear even though we still have wants.

There are some interesting mini-games. Actually much of The Sims 2 is quite interesting considering you start in Strangetown—a bizarre town with zombies, aliens, and more odd characters. Whether you enjoy the change or not depends upon your tastes. Developers figured if they had to take something out then they might as well add something new and that was a great idea—had it worked better. We aren’t certain if the new additions caused the overall long loading times or not—but they certainly take a lot from the fun.

GRAPHICS: Most of the animation is quite simple—comparable to all of the previous platform releases.

SOUND: The soundtrack is good—which is the forte of EA Games. The dialogue is fun and keeps you interested.

FRANKLY: One of the biggest issues with the PSP version of The Sims 2 is the long loading times. Even though some things are missing some are obviously left behind to get them to work on the PSP—thus a major compromise had to be made. The lack of some of the play features hurts the game but if you are a Sims fan you’ll be able to take it portable.
