CORPORATE LINE: Super-spy Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) has retired from active duty to trains new IMF agents. But he is called back into action to confront the toughest villain he’s ever faced – Owen Davian (Philip Seymour Hoffman), an international weapons and information provider with no remorse and no conscience. Hunt assembles his team – his old friend Luther Strickell (Ving Rhames), transportation expert Declan (Jonathan Rhys Meyers), background operative Zhen (Maggie Q), and fresh recruit Lindsey (Keri Russell) – to travel the globe pursuing Davian and rescue Hunt’s love, Julia (Michelle Monaghan).
THE REVIEW: J.J. Abrams must be a genius because he’s made a film that was good enough to make us forget that Tom Cruise might be crazy. Abrams and crew put together a great cast that meant MI3 didn’t have to ride solely on Cruise’s shoulders. From Oscar winner Philip Seymour Hoffman to Ving Rhames and Laurence Fishburne there is an endless number of talented supporting. Lest we forget Simon Pegg.
MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 3
What makes MI3 great is it steps on the gas and never lets up. The movie moves along at such a high pace that even a wacky storyline, and other ridiculous plotlines, can’t be explored because there is so much action. Every stunt ups the ante from all previous MI films.
FRANKLY: MI3 is mindless fun. Thanks to J.J. Abrams, MI3 has set the summer blockbuster season ablaze.
