Corporate Line: German native Sarah Connor admits that there are three ‘S’s which dominate her life – soul, sex, and sensuality. It’s these three ingredients that she blends perfectly to create her unique musical sound. Sarah grew up listening to James Brown, Marvin Gaye and Aretha Franklin. Those influences lead her to record the music she loves – new soul, r&b, and hip-hop. Sarah’s “green-eyed soul” has earned her platinum album status in Germany, Switzerland, and Finland – and gold status in Austria, Portugal, and the Czech Republic.
The Good:
“Let’s Get Back To Bed – Boy! – Finally some pop music with an edge. TQ drops by and wrote the lyrics—he’s known for bring hot R&B style hooks from a man not boys.
“Live Is Colorblind” – Another song written by TQ that scores big. TQ has a style similar to Nelly—you’d be surprised to know that TQ has been around much longer.
“Unbelievable” – Written over a Dr. Dre beat; Sarah Connor gets off the one sugary sweet pop song on the record that doesn’t sound tacky.
The Average:
“Bounce” – If you didn’t know better you might mistake Sarah Connor for Jessica Simpson.
“French Kissing” and “One Nite Stand” – Generic pop songs for the masses to consume like candy.
“In My House” – Wasn’t much of a song when it was released in the ‘80s and doesn’t sound any better with Connor singing it.
The Ugly:
“Skin on Skin” – Really a song that is nothing more than a bad Spice Girl rip-off.
“Turn Off The Lights” – Connor doesn’t have the sexy, seductive voice needed to pull of a jazz song.
Frankly: Sarah Connor doesn’t stand alone. I wonder if she’d even make the top twelve on American Idol. She doesn’t have it—or at least she doesn’t prove it on her debut album.
