THE GREAT:
Nothing.
THE AVERAGE:
“Don’t Move” – Sounds nice but is lyrical dead.
“Uncomfortably Numb” – Butch screams that he has to get out of Los Angeles—who’s stopping you. If L.A. is the reason Walker has fallen apart he better get out before it’s too late.
“Lights Out” – The hipster style doesn’t work here—the further the song goes realize the chorus can’t save this sinking ship.
“#1 Summer Jam” – The song sounds like a vain attempt at a hit.
THE BAD:
Every slow song. A little more soprano and any of these ballads could work for Justin Timberlake—you figure it out.
“Race Cars And Goth Rock” – The title says it all.
“Mixtape” – Terrible. Idiotic.
FRANKLY: How far the brilliant can fall. Butch Walker was once the frontman of the lesser known, but one of the best rock bands of its time, the Marvelous 3. Now he is merely a singer/songwriter trying to right a hit–Walker has written hits for artists like Avril, SR-71, etc. Walker sounds wimpy—so what happened to our rock ‘n’ roller? Perhaps he’s sold his soul to the pop devil in hopes of hitting a homerun. Good Luck, he’ll need it.
