Debi Nova to debut in America with “Luna Nueva”

Costa Rican sensation Debi Nova is set to release her North American debut, Luna Nueva (Surco/Decca) this spring. The multi-instrumental singer-songwriter has been readying her first full-length album for over a decade, while amassing an impressive body of work including six Grammy-nominated projects, a #1 single, collaborations with the likes of Black Eyed Peas and Ricky Martin, and touring the world.

Nova is now poised to conquer the U.S. with her hybrid debut, incorporating both English and Spanish and her love of both cultures. “As I was writing the songs, I found myself naturally blending both languages because it’s something I do every day,” says Nova. “My music reflects being part of a generation of young Latinos who use both naturally. The world is becoming smaller and I’m proud to represent that.”

Luna Nueva is an electrifying combination of irresistible Latin rhythms and potent pop smarts that showcases this vivacious artist’s considerable musical gifts – she plays piano, guitar, bass, timbales and more – as well as her rich Latina heritage.

With an acclaimed producing team behind her, Nova is thrilled to finally be releasing her first full-length album. Two-time Oscar-winner and Surco Records founder Gustavo Santaoalla was at helm of Luna Nueva. No stranger to success, Santaolla is also an eleven-time Grammy-winner whose credits include Juanes, Café Tacuba, Julieta Venegas and more. Marius de Vries-a five-time Grammy Award nominee and two-time BAFTA winner – shares producing credits on Luna Nueva and also possesses an incredible resume including production with Madonna, Björk, Massive Attack, and Josh Groban. The first single, saucy and infectious “Drummer Boy,” was co-written by Nova and produced by de Vries & Dreamlab.

Nova has been writing and performing professionally since the age of 14. She signed her first songwriter deal at the age of 17 and penned songs for Latin recording artists Belinda and RBD, Sean Paul, Mark Ronson and more, including her own single, “One Rhythm” which reached #1 in Latin America and on the US dance charts. She also co-wrote and performed the standout track “Latin Girls” on the Black Eyed Peas Grammy-nominated Elephunk. Nova later was invited to duet with Puerto Rican superstar Ricky Martin on two tracks for his CD Life—”Que Más Dá” and “Drop It On Me”— subsequently appearing in the music videos and as a featured vocalist on his world tour, garnering her worldwide attention. Her Grammy-nominated projects include nods for her songwriting and vocals with Black Eyed Peas, Sean Paul, Sergio Mendes, Victor Duplaix, and Norman Brown.
